Calhoun Super Structure certifies as living wage employer

Calhoun Super Structure is the latest business to certify as a living wage employer.

“Calhoun Super Structure strongly believes that organizations bear a duty to enhance the welfare of their staff and broader community,” said Jeremy Calhoun, CEO/Owner at Calhoun Super Structure. “Offering a livable wage stands as a crucial aspect towards meeting this obligation.”

“We take pride in endorsing both our employees and the Ontario living wage movement,” added Lisa Forbes, Human Resources Manager at Calhoun.

“We thank Calhoun for certifying,” added Michelle Millar, United Way Perth-Huron Manager Community Development, Goderich & Area and Southern Huron. “In order to help address unaffordable living, it’s important that workers are paid a living wage. We appreciate Calhoun for committing to their employees and the community.”

Based on a 35-hour work week, the Perth-Huron living wage of $22.75 per hour was calculated using local data and considered the living expenses of a weighted average of family types including a family of four, a single parent supporting a seven-year-old child and a single adult, once government transfers and deductions were considered. Everyday expenses in the calculation include food, housing, utilities, clothing, childcare and transportation. For more information about Perth-Huron’s living wage, GO HERE.
