Volunteers enable us to successfully and smoothly run our operations and events. We have many important and fulfilling volunteer opportunities that help make a better future for our community.
Your time, talent and energy are great assets to the community. Not only does volunteering help United Way Perth-Huron, it’s a way to show your #LocalLove by putting your passion into action, use your skills or develop new ones, expand your social circle and improve your health.
Last year, 600 people volunteered their time with United Way to improve lives locally.

*NEW: Volunteer Ambassadors*
We are looking for Volunteer Ambassadors to support staff by professionally assist visitors to the United Centre at 32 Erie Street in Stratford. This is a key member of United Way Perth-Huron’s frontline team and provides the first point of contact for the public and all tenants of the United Centre.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Answering and directing phone calls in a courteous and efficient manner
- Ensuring media calls are given priority and referring them to the Executive Director or designated staff member.
- Greet visitors to the United Centre courteously, and directing them to the appropriate agency and/or staff member.
- Distribute incoming mail and faxes.
- Process outgoing mail daily and deliver to postal outlet as required.
- Process outgoing courier packages in a timely fashion.
- Maintaining bookings schedule for office boardrooms
- Time commitment: 3 to 4 hour shifts during United Centre hours (currently 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Availability for one or two shifts a week would be ideal but not necessarily.

Volunteer Ambassador Posting (PDF)
Community Impact & Allocations Committee (CIAC)
We are looking to fill volunteer positions on our Community Impact and Allocations Committee (CIAC). We are looking for individuals who live and/or work in St. Marys, Perth East, South Perth, West Perth, Bluewater, Central Huron, Howick, or Morris Turnberry. CIAC terms are 3-years with a maximum of two terms.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Creating and implementing a Community Impact Plan.
- Reviewing and evaluating all funding applications.
- Strategically allocating resources within budget and policy.
- Ensuring impact through measurement and program evaluation.
- Engaging with the community to set priorities.
- Acting as a liason with Supported Partners alongside staff, when required.

Board Members
We are looking to fill volunteer Board Member positions with individuals who live and/or work in Huron County. Board terms are 3-years with a maximum of two terms.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide overall vision and direction for UWPH.
- Ensure that UWPH’s activities fulfil the strategic directions.
- Actively encourage community links and partnerships.
- Identify and help mitigate organizational risks.
- Review policy and procedure practices.
- Support revenue generation.
