Boshart Industries has been officially designated as Milverton’s newest Living Wage Employer in the Champion category.
“Boshart Industries is proud to be a Certified Living Wage Employer,” said Melanie Higgins, Senior VP of Human Resources at Boshart Industries. “We care about our employees and recognize that paying a living wage represents a critical investment in the long-term wellness of our employees by fostering a committed, qualified and healthy workforce.”
Calculated annually by the United Way Perth-Huron’s Social Research and Planning Council, the Living Wage is a calculation based on the living expenses of a family of four with both adults working full-time for 35 hours a week, once government transfers and deductions are taken into account. Everyday expenses included in the calculation are food, housing, utilities, childcare and transportation. Perth-Huron Counties’ Living Wage is $17.55 per hour. More information about Perth-Huron’s Living Wage can be found at perthhuron.unitedway.ca.
“By becoming a Certified Living Wage Employer, Boshart Industries is showing genuine leadership in their industry and a real commitment to their team and to United Way’s philosophy of building a stronger community,” added United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director Ryan Erb. “One in two households in Perth-Huron earn less than a Living Wage. The Living Wage movement is an opportunity for employees to have a higher quality of life and employers to get a more committed, skilled and happy workforce. Boshart Industries is a community leader by joining the Living Wage movement.”
