The Local Community Food Centre and United Way Perth-Huron are excited to announce Community Connections — Election Edition, a non-partisan, three-week educational series designed to engage the community as Ontario enters an election campaign.
Event Details:
- Dates: Tuesdays, February 4, 11, and 18
- Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
- Location: The Local Community Food Centre
This series will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the provincial election process, introduce them to local candidates, and help them make informed voting decisions. Each week will focus on a different aspect of the election:
- February 4: Learn about the role of the provincial government and identify key issues.
- February 11: Attend an all-candidates meeting to discuss important topics in small groups.
- February 18: Learn how to follow up with candidates and prepare to vote.
“We wanted to connect our community to their candidates in a way that felt true to the spirit of the Local,” said Margaret Smart, Executive Director of the Local. “Our all-candidates meeting is not going to be a debate. It’s going to be neighbors, sitting around the table, talking through important issues.”
“This series is a fantastic opportunity for community members to engage with the election process,” added Ryan Erb, Executive Director of United Way Perth-Huron. “Helping people to engage with their leaders in this election and beyond is key to solving the greatest challenges in our communities.”
Registration Information: Community members are welcome to sign up for the entire series or just for the all-candidates meeting. Interested individuals can register by contacting Julie Docker-Johnson at The Local CFC: connector@thelocalcfc.org or 519-508-3663 ext. 1005
