The Goderich Lions Club hopes to get more Goderich and area people supporting their community through United Way Perth-Huron. That’s why they’re sharing news about their three-year commitment to United Way as Leader Match donors. Leader Match donors donate $6,000 to inspire five other people to give at the Leadership level of $100 per month.
“We were happy to make this commitment starting last year,” said Goderich Lions Club Treasurer Don Hyde. “The Goderich Lions are committed to helping the local community and we thought it was important to talk more about our commitment.”
“We believe in United Way,” added Goderich Lions Club President John Grace. “I also wanted to share more about the amazing things United Way has been part of in Goderich and area, to show why they are an effective way to support building an even stronger local community.”
Donations in Goderich go directly to the Goderich Homelessness Initiative including a supportive housing worker, helping find housing for vulnerable community members and ensuring successful tenancies; three additional beds at Huron Turning Point, assisting men from across Huron; and support for the Out of the Cold — Hearts to Home shelter in Goderich. Donations also support shelter for women, children and youth.
“We’re grateful to the Lions Club,” added United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director Ryan Erb. “United Way can address pressing local issues thanks to our donors. We hope others take up the Lions Club’s challenge and help make a difference in the community through United Way.”
