United Way Perth-Huron is proud to announce results from the Coldest Night of the Year events across Perth-Huron:
In Exeter, $47,894 has been raised so far.
By walking, participants help support United Way Perth-Huron’s Southern Huron Connection Centre in Exeter and the Huron Homelessness Initiative in Exeter. The Southern Huron Connection Centre offers basic needs such as light meals, a shower, washroom and laundry facilities and support through partnerships with numerous agencies. The Huron Homelessness Initiative includes Huron Turning Point transition home for men, shelter for women, children and youth, temporary emergency shelter during the cold months and housing support.

Funds raised support United Way’s local work on housing and homelessness including the Urgent Needs Fund, helping those facing sudden financial challenges to help keep them housed. Funds also support North Perth’s Social Services Outreach Worker to help find housing for those in need and connect them with services, as well as United Way’s United Housing initiative, with a long-term goal of achieving suitable and affordable housing for everyone in Perth-Huron.

Funds raised help support the St. Marys Community Outreach Worker and the Nourish Equal Access Food Market. The Community Outreach Worker offers facilitation, education, and referrals for residents needing support including life skills, mental health, homelessness, and addictions, along with providing short-term support and help connecting community members to important services, and delivering community education and outreach, including neighbourhood mediation. Nourish runs bi-weekly, offering fresh, nutritious, locally sourced produce and meats to residents facing food insecurity every day.
