United Way’s North Perth Community Committee invites people to help kick off United Way Perth-Huron’s 2026 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 10 with a simple challenge: give 20 minutes to make a difference.
20 Minutes for Good takes place in Character Square and offers a hands-on opportunity focused on helping local people through First Step kits.
The kits, which will be available through community partners, are designed to support those who may be unsure where to turn for help. They will include items such as notebooks, pens, document folders, local support information, planning tools and encouragement cards.
“Sometimes the hardest part of getting help is knowing where to begin,” said North Perth Community Committee chair, Lee Anne Andreesen. “These kits are designed to make that first step feel more manageable while giving participants a way to help their neighbours.”
Workplaces, service clubs, faith groups and individuals are invited to participate. Organizations interested in reserving a team shift or sponsoring kit supplies can contact Todd Kasenberg, United Way Manager, Community and Resource Development, North Perth.
Hosted by Ward & Uptigrove, the North Perth kickoff runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Highlights include games, a raffle, the Red Chain of Community Hopes and Wishes, appearances by Listowel Cyclones players and the unveiling of UWPH’s 2026 campaign goal. Tasty treats will be available to purchase from the Wild Boar and Mega Cone Creamery food trucks. Sponsors include Ward & Uptigrove, Innovative Digital, and businesses donating First Step kit supplies and raffle prizes. GO HERE for event updates.
