United Way planning to address tariff-related challenges, finish campaign strong

Canada is facing significant instability due to the ongoing threat of tariffs, rising inflation and the potential for job losses. These challenges are reflected in communities across Perth-Huron. To help, United Way is working with social service and economic development partners on a strategy to address food insecurity, mental health and well-being and support for workers through the organization’s Urgent Needs Fund.

“United Way has a long history of addressing the most pressing issues in the region,” said Executive Director, Ryan Erb. “We responded quickly to support the Goderich community after the tornado, rose to the occasion during COVID, and we will do it again now. We will announce more details of our plans in the near future.”

If donors are interested in helping now, there is an immediate opportunity as well. United Way’s current campaign, ending in three weeks, is currently around 80% of our$2.6 million goal. All donations support those already facing challenges, as well as those who will need help moving forward. Campaign donations are accepted until the end of March.

“Your generosity helps us provide vital resources in a time when our community needs it most,” added Erb. “In these uncertain times, it’s more important than ever to support one another. Together, we can make a real difference.”
