United Way Perth-Huron thrives thanks to dedicated volunteers who ensure the organization continues to serve Perth-Huron communities effectively. United Way is now seeking new members for its Social Research and Planning Council to help address urgent needs across the region.
“We are excited to work with volunteers with diverse perspectives and expertise to guide our research and advocacy,” says Kristin Crane, United Way Director of Community Impact and Research. “If you want to help us understand the biggest local issues, we encourage you to apply and join our efforts.”
The Social Research & Planning Council plays a crucial role within United Way by guiding the research process, approving research reports and supporting advocacy campaigns.
Committee terms are three years, and United Way is particularly interested in members who have lived experience of exclusion and discrimination. This could be due to poverty, ability, citizenship, religion and/or personal identity and expression. Personal or professional experience with social systems (social services, courts, child welfare, immigration, etc.) is also valued by the Social Research & Planning Council
