Homegrown Grocer fundraiser supports United Way’s work in Northern Huron
Homegrown Grocer is teaming up with United Way Perth-Huron to raise funds for United Way’s local work, including the Northern Huron Connection Centre.
From Nov. 5 to Dec. 17, people can order from a selection of six soups ($6.50 each) and six hearty meals ($13 each). Orders will be available for pickup on Jan. 28, 2026, at the Homegrown Grocer location in Wingham.
“This fundraiser is a great way for people to give a delicious gift while supporting the Northern Huron Connection Centre and other important programs that help support vulnerable local people,” said Lisa Harper, United Way’s Manager, Community Development, Northern Huron. “So, every order makes a difference.”
“Homegrown exists to strengthen bonds within our communities and to see all individuals thrive and prosper,” said David Scherpenzeel, owner of Homegrown Grocer. “Partnerships like the one between Homegrown and United Way allow us to give back to the community that has given so much to us. Everyone goes through difficult times in life and needs a little support. If we can roll up our sleeves and cook food that can create memories amongst families while also helping those who need a little extra support, then truly is there anything more rewarding in life?”
Operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth, United Way’s Northern Huron Connection Centre in Wingham is a safe place for vulnerable people to access supports including trauma-informed care and mental health counselling, along with basic needs including shower and laundry facilities. Last year, there were 834 total visits to the Connection Centre and 27 people were housed.
