Urgent Needs Fund
In challenging times, our most vulnerable can fall through the cracks. We want to help make sure everyone in our community is supported—that is what the COVID-19 Urgent Needs Fund aims to do.
United Way Perth-Huron is an organization of well-connected social experts working to identify local needs. All donations to the fund stay within Perth-Huron, helping organizations increase program capacity, expand the reach of existing programs and shift the way they provide support to local individuals and families in need. We will provide regular updates so you can see the direct impact your gift has.
Thank you for supporting United Way Perth-Huron’s COVID-19 Urgent Needs Fund.

Funding for Seniors
On March 29, 2020, the Prime Minister announced funding to United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC) to support vulnerable seniors at risk due to the COVID-19 Crisis. This funding will support services and supports to isolated seniors in all parts of Canada, including rural and remote communities. Funding in the amount of $9M is being distributed through the UW network in Canada and is coming through the New Horizons for Seniors Program at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). For the purposes of this funding:
- ESDC defines persons aged 55+ as seniors.
- Eligible organizations must be capable of meeting the immediate and urgent needs of seniors.
- The majority (roughly 60% or more) of a program’s recipients must be over the age of 55.
United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) anticipates receiving funds for Perth and Huron County within the week. Therefore, UWPH will be accepting applications for the funding from April 21 – April 28. If you are interested in applying for funds, please complete the attached application and email it to me before 5 pm on April 28.
