Black Swan Brewing is offering a unique way to support United Way Perth-Huron, creating a new Local Love Cream Ale to benefit United Way’s annual campaign.
“We are thrilled to partner with our local United Way in a new and exciting way,” said Ryan Stokes, owner of Black Swan Brewery. “We have always believed that beer is at its best when it brings people together. Know that every time you enjoy our Local Love Cream Ale, you’ll be supporting people in our own beautiful community.”
“We appreciate Ryan Stokes and the team at Black Swan Brewing for supporting United Way,” said Elizabeth Cooper, manager of community development in Stratford and area. “When someone buys a can of Local Love Cream Ale, they’re supporting a great local business and helping United Way create brighter futures for vulnerable people right here in Stratford.”
Beyond supporting local people, the beer itself is a local product. Along with Black Swan’s brewing expertise, Stratford graphic artist Josh Cooper created the label. Fifty cents from every can sold of Local Love Cream Ale goes to support United Way’s work in Stratford and area.
Among the programs and services United Way supports are the Stratford Connection Centre and the Urgent Needs Fund. The Stratford Connection Centre is a housing-based support serving those experiencing homelessness or who are otherwise vulnerable, providing wrap-around supports and access to basic needs including food, clothing, showers, laundry facilities and a warming/cooling space. Last year the Centre supported 287 people. The Urgent Needs Fund is accessible 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, 365-days-a-year in over 150 languages through the 211 helpline. The Fund supports residents in a time of crisis with an immediate infusion of funds for essentials including rent, groceries, car repairs and medication. Last year over 450 people in Perth County were helped.
