Volunteering is the life blood of a great community. Whether it happens formally, at the hospital or informally when we help our neighbours, the spirit of helping other human beings is vital to building a sense of belonging, safety and care. Each year United Way sets aside a day and works with corporations and individuals to make a difference while promoting volunteerism. Day of Caring is a special opportunity for everyone to give back and help an agency or a friend that takes place late spring. Even if you can’t take the whole day off on, think about a friend in need, a neighbour who could use a hand and make a special effort to do something about it.
