United Way Perth-Huron Calls on the Spirit of Giving at Christmas

2016 Campaign Nearly 10% Behind

“We are remarkably pleased with the support we’ve received so far with our campaign”, said Campaign Chair Andrew Williams, “We also know we are a little behind where we need to be and are committed to raising the visibility of the campaign which, in essence, is supplying provisions for the very real needs that continue to exist across Huron and Perth.

Nearing the end of the fourth month of the 2016 Campaign, United Way sits at almost 10% off the pace needed to achieve their goal. With several workplace campaigns being down in their annual donations, United Way is asking the community to dig deep this holiday season to help support the services their neighbours, friends, co-workers, and perhaps themselves use or have used across Perth and Huron.

Kate Aarssen, Clinical Supervisor with Family Services Perth-Huron added, “United Way funding enables Family Services Perth-Huron to offer crucial emotional and social service supports to those most vulnerable and isolated members of our community who are in need during the holiday season.”

Bev Hagerdorn, Executive Director of Shelterlink, shared, “Stratford/Perth Shelterlink, tending to the needs of homeless youth in Perth County, receives funding, bookkeeping services, mentorship and access to many resources through our Supported Partner relationship with the United Way. Please think of the United Way in this season of giving, as the work that they are doing on behalf of agencies like ours, couldn’t be done without your support. A strong United Way campaign equates to strong availability of services for many of our community’s most vulnerable.”

Achieving the 2016 campaign goal of $1,337,000, means support for close to 50 partners across Huron and Perth counties. Organizations include: Choices for Change, Huron County Food Bank and Distribution Centre, St. Marys Youth Centre, Huron Safe Homes for Youth , Emily Murphy Centre, 211, Connect Youth Perth-Huron, and The Local Community Food Centre – to name a few. The full list of partners can be found at the United Way Perth-Huron website under the Impact Tab.
