Beginning Monday, November 25, 2013 United Way Perth-Huron will be accepting applications for funding to address new, emergent, or critical issues
United Way Perth-Huron is pleased to announce another year of Development & Demonstration Grant Funding. The purpose of these grants is to assist with one year funding for the start-up or expansion of projects that address new, emergent, or critical issues that; fosters partnerships between organizations and individuals; or improves organizational structure to build capacity within the charitable sector. Applicants to the Development & Demonstration grants must be operating their programs within Perth and Huron Counties and demonstrate a need for the program or service proposed, as well as, the capacity to respond to the identified need, collaboration with existing services, and alignment with community priorities.
Last year UWPH funded Community Living Stratford & Area for the Transitional Aged Youth Summer Project. This pilot project identified connections between young adults with a developmental disability and their peers from school and community friendships to support those connections through the summer break. The second grant funded last year was the Building Bridges in Huron Project (supported by Rural Response for Healthy Children). This effort is a community mobilization project that will foster and solidify connections between trained facilitators, agencies, community groups and lower-income people and families living in Huron County – a first step to a coordinated response to poverty and marginalization in the county.
Other successful past Development & Demonstration grant recipients include; the Foundation for Enriching Education and Kids First Huron Perth Steering Committee’s Shared Intake Project, the John Howard Society of London & Districts’ Institutional Visiting and Reintegration Support Program at the Stratford jail and the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre’s Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program.
An orientation and training session for interested grant applicants will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 9 – 11 am at the United Centre (32 Erie Street, Stratford). Please contact Mary Bennett at 519-271-7730 ext. 225 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org to rsvp for the training session.
Applications are due by Monday, January 6, 2014 by 5:00 pm.
