Executive Director Reflects on Campaign So Far and Looks Ahead

United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) isn’t slowing down as they work towards their campaign goal of $1.5 million; but after a whirlwind first seven weeks of the 2017/18 campaign, Executive Director Ryan Erb is willing to pause for a minute to look back on what has been achieved so far.

“Our kick-off lunch and tour set a very positive tone,” Erb says, “And that early momentum has carried through and created a lot of enthusiasm around United Way. Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, workplace campaigns, LCBO’s ‘Say Yes at the Till” appeal and Festival Hydro’s Positivity Through Paperless initiative, our current total of over $476,000 is ahead of the same time last year. But we’re just getting started!”

The weeks ahead promise to generate even more attention and excitement around United Way. Paint the Town Red 2017 – an event promoting shopping local as well as raising funds for UWPH – is upcoming, November 24 – 26. After that is the Care-a-Van of Hope tour of area Scotiabank branches on December 14; the Winter Concert Series in the New Year – including a much-anticipated ABBA/Bee Gees tribute on January 27 at the Rotary Complex – promises nights full of great entertainment; while the Spirit of Community Celebration at the end of March features inspiring stories from people in our communities who have been positively affected by UWPH and the programs and services they support.

“We’re very pleased with the campaign so far,” Campaign Chair Andrew Williams adds, “But we’re not resting on our laurels. We have lots of great events planned that make it fun to donate to United Way, allowing us to not only maintain our current funding but add needed programs and services as well.”
