United Way Perth-Huron Likely to Miss Goal
Begins “Sweeter Endings” Appeal
United Way Perth Huron is now predicting fundraising may fall short not only of their goal of 1.337 million, but also of last year’s total 1.226 million.
Ryan Erb, Executive Director, says, “Not meeting the goal means we can’t support new programs for the first time, which were identified as priorities for our community. That is disappointing enough. Not meeting last year’s target means we may have to reduce allocations to our Supported Partners and our own expenses. That is more difficult. At this point, we are calling on everyone to help achieve a “Sweeter Ending”.
Enter ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATE’s community partnership in their appeal launched today. Daniel McPhee of ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATES shares, “We weren’t sure we have really been able to make a significant impact as a local company until this project came together last week. Chocolate has been the main stay, locally, in a number of “pairing” events for many years, bringing people together for good reasons and great fun! With this in mind, we’re able to offer some great incentives to bring a “Sweeter Ending” to the campaign.
Carolynne Champagne, VP Resource Development and Communications, expresses with appreciation, “To help close the gap and make sure that we continue tackling local issues with poverty, the realities of our youth, and ensuring strength of our community, this chocolatier’s helping hand is encouraging members of Perth & Huron communities to donate now, as the campaign winds down, by offering a ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATE experience to all new March donations”.
All new individual and workplace donors in March will receive a hand made United Way logo chocolate. For gifts totalling $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000, ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATE is excited to further prepare and donate a Chocolate Gift Basket reflective of the donation level. Here’s the really exciting incentive…. March’s Largest Donor will receive a two hour social private “tasting party” at their store for up to 30 people! In early April, UWPH will notify each donor how to collect their incentive gifts sponsored by ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATE in their Stratford or London location.
Champagne raises the appeal to, “Donate generously in these last 25 days, bringing a sweet end to what needs to be another solid fund raising campaign; making a huge difference for our local partner services and the overall impact of the United Way.”
United Way Perth-Huron currently supports almost 50 organizations across Perth and Huron Counties, including Choices for Change, Community Outreach Services, 211, Connect Youth, Family Services Perth-Huron, Legal Aid, St Marys Youth Centre, Huron Women’s Shelter Second Stage Housing and Counseling Services and the Emily Murphy Centre. The continued funding of these services and others (listed at perthhuron.unitedway.ca under impact) is dependent on their supported partnership relationship with United Way Perth-Huron and the community.
McPhee of ROCKY MTN CHOCOLATE wraps it up stating, “We are both proud and excited about how easily we found a way to make this fun donation incentive work, and we are really looking forward to celebrating and unwrapping this project with United Way!!”
Apart from donating, there are many ways to support United Way to a “Sweeter Ending”. Supporters can also attend the Winter Concert Series and the Spirit of Community Celebration, or become a paperless Festival Hydro customer as Festival Hydro donates $5 for every customer that moves to paperless billing by March 31st.
To help United Way meet the financial goal of $1,337,000 and continue supporting these local services, donations are gladly accepted in person at 32 Erie Street, Stratford, by telephone at 519-271-7730 / 1-877-818-8867 or online at perthhuron.unitedway.ca.
