Stratford CAO, Issues Challenge on Behalf of United Way!

City of Stratford Chief Administrative Officer Rob Horne has something to say about United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH).

“United Way is a tremendous organization doing great work,” says Horne, “Because of that I wanted to challenge other city employees and Stratford residents in general to consider giving at the leadership level of $1,200 to UWPH’s annual campaign. It’s a way we can help ensure United Way is able to support needed social services in our community – services that are there for our families, friends and neighbours in times of need.”

The City of Stratford has always been generous to United Way. In fact, city workers donated a total of $15,627 to the 2016 campaign. With a workplace campaign just starting, Horne saw an opportunity to raise the bar on what Stratford can do to continue helping UWPH build a strong local community. A double incentive is the current United Way leader challenge, where other committed UWPH donors match your donation if you move to a leadership level of $1,200.

“The City of Stratford has been one of our long-term supporters,” says United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director Ryan Erb, “And we’re very pleased to have someone like Rob step up and demonstrate how much United Way means to him, and by extension, the community at large.”

The weeks ahead promise a range of events within the local community and beyond to bring people together in support of United Way. Paint the Town Red 2017 – an event promoting shopping local as well as raising funds for UWPH – is upcoming, November 24 – 26. Beyond that is the Care-a-Van of Hope tour of area Scotiabank branches across Perth and Huron Counties on December 14; the Winter Concert Series in the New Year – including a much-anticipated ABBA/Bee Gees tribute on January 27 at the Rotary Complex; while the Spirit of Community Celebration at the end of March features inspiring stories from people in our communities who have been positively affected by UWPH and the programs and services they support.

United Way Perth-Huron is 100% local and supports almost 50 organizations and services across Perth and Huron Counties. To help United Way support these local services, donations are gladly accepted. Call 519-271-7730 or 1-877-818-8867, mail to 32 Erie Street, Stratford, ON  N5A 2M4 or visit
