Quality of life in any community is influenced by a variety of interrelated factors, such as the local economy, housing, education, environment, heath and personal safety.  It has been defined as ‘the product of the interplay among social, health, economic, and environmental conditions, which affect human and social development.’

This report helps to:

  1. Provide a profile of life in Perth County at this point in time, compared to specific points in time in the past
  2. Provide a baseline for measuring future activity
  3. Allow us to see the links between social, health, economic and cultural well being and how all of this impacts on people’s quality of life

• Perth County has more seniors and children per capita than the province of Ontario

• Since the last census, the number of households in Perth County have increased by 4% despite the fact that the average household size has decreased

• 20.3% of households in Perth County have an income less than $30,000, compared to 22.2% province wide

• 10% of children under the age of six have access to a licensed centre-based space

• Despite being under-serviced for family physicians, compared to the provincial average, 95.4% of residents have a regular family doctor
