Community Consultation

Huron Community Safety and Well-being Plan

The goal of the Community Safety and Well-being plan is to achieve sustainable communities where everyone is safe, has a sense of belonging and opportunities to participate and has their needs met for education, health care, food, housing, income and social and cultural expression — ultimately leading to a reduction in crime across the region.

About the Consultation process

HURON COUNTY – Nine partnering municipalities in Huron including the Town of Goderich, Township of Howick, Municipality of South Huron, Municipality of Bluewater, Municipality of Central Huron, Municipality of Huron East, Township of North Huron, Municipality of Morris-Turnberry and Township Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh have launched the second phase of their community engagement consultations for the development of the Community Safety and Well-being plan.

The partner municipalities particularly hope to engage residents during this stage of the development process through a series of community roundtables along with stakeholder interviews and small group discussions. All are welcome, it would be especially helpful to have residents 30-and-under. Sessions aim to delve deeper into the issues of community safety and well-being across Huron County and gather ideas about how communities can work collaboratively to create the kind of safe, healthy places residents want to live in. Joëlle Lamport-Lewis, Director of United Way Perth-Huron’s Social Research and Planning Council, will facilitate the sessions.
