United Way Perth-Huron traveled both Counties on Thursday despite blustery weather conditions. Their goal was two-fold: to raise awareness about the United Way and to raise money towards this year’s campaign goal of $1,115,000.00. The successful tour left the United Centre in Stratford via a chartered bus sponsored by Cherrey Bus Llnes. Throughout the day, the United Way team of staff, volunteers and supporters made stops at Scotiabank branches in St. Marys, Exeter, Goderich, Listowel, Milverton, Mitchell and Stratford to collect the money raised at the branches the week prior, accept additional donations from those gathered, hear stories from United Way member agencies and receive greetings from local dignitaries.
United Way Perth-Huron’s new partnership with Scotiabank for the 2013 Care-A-Van of Hope was a great success. From December 5th to 12th Scotiabank branches across Perth and Huron collected donations and promoted the work of United Way. Through partnership with the Team Scotia Community Program, the efforts of each branch, and the generous donations of many individuals, businesses and corporations, Scotiabank helped the United Way raise an incredible $75,518.35.
Rob Roes, Community Branch Manager for Scotia Bank in Stratford was thrilled with the result. “As United Way Perth-Huron’s largest supporter in the region, we are proud to build on years of partnership and celebrate the work of such an important charity in our region; Hats off to the many volunteers and staff for their hard work and for making the day an incredible success.”
United Way thanks the Goderich B.I.A. for providing lunch and many donors for their significant contributions, including: Solis Foods, Ellison Travel and Tours, Town of Goderich, Huron District Labour Council, Ideal Supply, ETFO-Avon-Maitland Teacher’s Local, Mitchell Veterinary Management Services, Steelcraft Technologies Inc, Irene Miller and Erik Sansom, Sutton Group, Boston Pizza and Hugh D. McDonald and Associates.
The enthusiastic Car-A-Van Team celebrated the end of the tour by enjoying some holiday treats sponsored by Boston Pizza at the main Stratford Scotiabank branch (1 Ontario Street).
Ryan Erb, Executive Director says, “The weather was not enough to deter our spirit of caring for the community. We drove on through and I am ecstatic about the results. More importantly, we all heard about the work of our agency partners and those we serve. The money raised is making an incredible difference in our community.”
Donations are still being accepted for the 2013 Campaign until February.
